“You should leave your ago otherwise everyone else will leave you.” This is an oldadage but it never loses its importance. Ego is a lethal corrosive substance. It has a very high potential to destroy your relationships. If one values people and relationships more than anything else then he/she has to leave ego behind. Here are some ways to control your ego in a relationship:
7 Ways to Control your Ego in a Relationship
1) Adopt the Policy of Tolerance
Start being more tolerant and stop taking offenses. Not everyone excels in the art of conversation every time. Sometimes they say things that they didn’t mean. Sometimes their mockery was just an attempt to lighten the mood and not to demean you. Stop overthinking and creating issues out of trivial things. You should distance from the ones who don’t like you but always remember that the ones who love you, will never mean to hurt you.
2) Accept your Fault
Stop defending yourself every time. You cannot be right every time. And that’s okay. We are humans. We are bound to make mistakes. But our greatness lies in what we did after making that mistake. Accept if you made a fault and then try to make up for it. That is the only divine way to deal with it. Sometimes it’s acceptance that you need not defence.

3) Try to Understand Other’s Opinion too
It is the situation that makes people bad, they say. And that’s true. Sometimes both the parties are contradicting but both of them are right in their own way. You won’t be able to understand what others did and why unless you put yourself in their shoes. So before going crazy and blabbering about your view point, make an effort to understand theirs too.
4) Talk, Talk and Talk
If you feel a problem exists, then talk about it. Don’t let things stay to you. These forced things that are kept inside work as an acid that corrodes the container itself. Talk about problems and get done with them then and there. Don’t expect others to come and solve them for you when you haven’t even let them know that you’re facing a problem.
5) You don’t have to be Superior Always
You can’t be supreme in everything and every time. Every human is one of a kind. Everyone has his/her own specialities. All you need to do is to indulge into a fight of becoming better today than you were yesterday.

6) Keep Jealous thoughts at Bay
Jealousy is scarring. Be content with what you have or if you want more, work for it. But stop being jealous with others. Get inspired if you want to. But don’t be jealous. Jealousy rips off the goodness in you. It is doing harm to you more than anyone else.
7) The one who takes Initiative is Divine
Texting first, calling first, talking first, saying sorry first doesn’t make you bad. If you love the person, go ahead to take the first steps. Be it a normal day or be it the day post your fight, the person you have is more important than the battle of “Who is going to do it first?”
